The AVP, Corporate Compliance plays a critical role in building and sustaining regulator confidence by ensuring Canada’s regulatory obligations are identified early, clearly understood, and consistently implemented across the organization. Through strong leadership of the Regulatory Compliance Management Framework, the role translates regulatory expectations into reliable, repeatable outcomes that stand up to regulatory scrutiny.
The AVP provides day‑to‑day leadership and disciplined execution across Regulatory Change Management and Compliance Testing - ensuring issues are surfaced early, expectations are met, and credible evidence of compliance is readily available. This role enables confident regulatory engagement, reduces surprises, and supports clear, defensible assurance to senior management and supporting Board level assurance.
What you will do:
- Lead the end‑to‑end Canadian Regulatory Change Management program, ensuring regulatory expectations (including OSFI) are identified early, assessed clearly, implemented on time, and evidenced consistently across the organization.
- Provide senior day-to-day leadership on regulatory matters, issue oversight, escalation, and execution support across core compliance disciplines.
- Serve as a senior point of contact for regulators, supporting the oversight regulatory reviews, examinations, findings, and responses to ensure disciplined, transparent, and credible engagement.
- Provide clear executive advice on regulatory interpretation, applicability, and compliance implications to support informed decision‑making by senior management.
- Own the Compliance Testing Framework and annual testing plan, ensuring coverage aligns to key regulatory risks and that results withstand regulatory and internal scrutiny.
- Oversee the regulatory issue management lifecycle, including remediation, validation, and reporting to executives.
- Maintain and continuously strengthen the Regulatory Compliance Management Framework, ensuring it remains current, practical, and aligned with evolving regulatory expectations.
- Lead the oversight of enterprise compliance risk assessments and reporting, providing clear insight into emerging risks, trends, and areas requiring leadership attention.
- Ensure reliable, defensible Board‑level assurance through high‑quality reporting, clear escalation, and well‑documented evidence of compliance.
- Lead and develop a high‑performing Corporate Compliance team, building capability, consistency, and continuous improvement across the compliance function.
What You Bring:
- 6–9+ years of progressive experience in compliance, risk management, or regulatory roles within a regulated financial services environment.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian regulatory expectations and experience applying those requirements in practice..
- Demonstrated ability to translate regulatory requirements into clear, executable compliance processes and controls.
- Experience designing, operating, or enhancing compliance management and testing frameworks that withstand regulatory scrutiny.
- Credible experience engaging with regulators, and senior executives in a clear, confident, and disciplined manner.
- Strong leadership, judgment, communication, and influencing skills, with the ability to operate as a trusted advisor to senior leaders.
- University degree required; professional compliance or risk designations are an asset.
