Assistant Manager, Compliance
Interested in adding to your compliance experience for both Individual Wealth and Canada Life subsidiaries? We are looking for an Assistant Manager, Compliance for Canada Life Investment Management Ltd. (CLIML) within the Wealth Solutions team.
The Assistant Manager, Compliance plays a central role in supporting compliance activities and actively contributes to advancing compliance processes and deliverables for CLIML. CLIML is registered as an investment fund manager, portfolio manager, and commodity trading manager. Its primary regulator is the Ontario Securities Commission. CLIML is the manager of the Canada Life Mutual Funds and Counsel Portfolios.
What you will do:
- Review policies and procedures related to various compliance programs and support their execution or operationalization.
- Collaborate with team members to develop and document processes.
- Perform intake, mailbox management, and ongoing monitoring of compliance review activity for marketing and sales communication compliance reviews, as well as assist in those reviews against regulatory requirements and our Marketing Guidelines documentation within service standards.
- Evaluate, analyze, and assess legislative and compliance-driven changes
- Serve as a trusted compliance subject matter expert, providing guidance and responding to inquiries from internal and external stakeholders.
- Rapidly acquire new knowledge, learn new skills, and apply innovative thinking to solve problems.
- Collaborate closely with colleagues within CLIML and Wealth Solutions, as well as other business partners and shared services.
- Remain up to date with regulatory environment and upcoming changes to ensure that policies and procedures are kept current.
What you will bring:
- 3+ years of compliance experience working in at least one of the following is preferred: IFM, investment dealer, mutual funds, control testing programs, privacy, Canada Life subsidiaries, segregated funds.
- Strong written and oral communication skills, track record for delivering results with high degree of accuracy
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, self-organize, and prioritize deliverables through goal setting, time management and planning to ensure individual and team deadlines are met.
- University degree in a related field.
- CPA or CFA designation is an asset.
- Knowledge of the following National Instrument (NI) securities regulations is an asset: NI 31-103, NI 81-101, NI 81-102, NI 81-105, and NI 81-106. This includes familiarity with investment fund rules, prospectus documents, and monitoring fund compliance.
- Ability to understand and successfully navigate a matrixed organization.
- Demonstrated success in cross-functional collaboration and relationship building.

The base salary for this position is between $75,600 - $115,000 annually. This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).
