Canada Life, one of Canada’s leading life insurance and financial services companies, is seeking individuals for our Actuarial Intern program. This program is aimed at applicants with a completed post-secondary degree who are looking to enter the actuarial field. Applicants must have demonstrated a recent commitment to obtaining a professional actuarial designation, though prior actuarial work experience is not a requirement. 

 

Positions are available for both 8 and 12-month temporary full-time roles, beginning Aug 31, 2026. If permanent full-time positions become available during the contractual term, you may be eligible to transition to those positions without needing to complete the contract. 

 

This is a hybrid role located at our London head office - the successful applicant will be required to work in person in London 3 days per week.  

 

As an Actuarial Intern you are a key member of a highly respected, professional, actuarial team and will have an opportunity to perform entry-level actuarial work in one of the following possible areas: 

 

  • Pricing & Product Development 
  • Valuation
  • Enterprise Risk Management 
  • Reinsurance 
  • Risk Research 
  • Corporate Actuarial 
  • Internal Audit

Our Actuarial Interns participate in a variety of team building activities and professional development activities that help to strengthen skills and contribute to building strong relationships among our Actuarial staff. Past activities have included exam results parties, trivia nights, rock climbing, snow tubing, and a scavenger hunt.

 

Qualifications

  • Completion of a post-secondary degree prior to the start date. Degrees in a related field (Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Finance, Statistics) are an asset.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the actuarial field through successful completion of professional actuarial exams, an actuarial education, or similar.
  • Innovative problem-solver.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Well organized, delivering accurate work with an attention to detail, in a timely manner.
  • Team player who is also comfortable working independently.
  • Excel, Word, VBA, MS Access and Moody’s AXIS experience is an asset.
  • Knowledge or interest in market risk, investments, and life insurance/reinsurance

The base salary for this position is between $49,020 - $88,350 annually. This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).
