The AVP Culture and Experience will work with senior leaders to foster a high-performance, high-engagement culture at Canada Life and in support of the Lifeco group of companies. Additionally, the incumbent will work with leaders to advance organizational effectiveness through workforce planning and organizational design, engagement and experience strategies, and by enhancing and leveraging HR data and analytics capabilities.
This role collaborates with stakeholders to support the design and delivery of a culture that inspires, engages and drives performance in service of our customers. They will create an integrated roadmap for embedding the values, beliefs and critical behaviors that underpin our culture throughout programs, processes and campaigns across the company. These may include partnering with HR COE leaders and considering impacts to key HR programs and processes in talent acquisition, learning, talent management and progression, rewards, policy and others. They will innovate and evolve key artifacts such as the Employee Promise, Employee Value Proposition and other brand assets. As part of this mandate, the incumbent will also work with HR experts and others key partners to define and deliver compelling and unique employee experiences that attracts and retains great talent. The outcomes of work will be measured through engagement, and further organizational performance and customer experiences.
The incumbent will provide strategic and credible advice to Senior Leaders, Human Resources business partners and leaders, Communications and other key partners across Canada Life and Lifeco. The team will work with leaders and partners to advance organizational effectiveness by supporting the build and delivery of workforce plans, partnering on strategic organizational design initiatives, developing and leveraging data driven insights, and leading the global engagement survey process.
What you will do:
- Lead the development and delivery of a long-term plan to foster a high-performance culture aligned to business and HR strategies
- Work with senior leaders and HR teams across Canada Life and Lifeco to continually evolve the employee experience.
- In partnership with HR Centre of Excellence leaders, work to ensure HR program design and implementation supports the desired culture
- Identify and facilitate the engagement of critical stakeholders and work with HR Program leaders to ensure the employee experience lens is maintained through the design and implementation of all HR initiatives
- Create awareness and educate stakeholders across the organization on the desired culture for the organization and ensure that the employee experience is factored into decision-making
- Work closely with Corporate Communication in internal messaging and platforms as well as external communications
- Lead the Canada Life Engagement strategy and tie insights and outcomes to the desired culture, aligned to direction set by Great-West Lifeco
- Participate in the global HR community to share insights and collaborate on cultural and engagement objectives.
- Contribute to business strategic initiatives by developing and leveraging workforce planning, organizational design, and HR data and analytics capabilities
- Identify, champion and program manage initiatives as required to advance critical enablers of the desired culture and employee experience
What you will bring:
- Strong Human Resources expertise, with broad experiences across multiple HR domains, ideally including HR business relations and centres of expertise.
- Post Secondary degree / CHRP is an asset.
- Strong communication, change management and implementation abilities
- Ability to impact and influence across various stakeholders especially where no formal authority exists. Expert facilitator to drive work across stakeholder groups.
- Expertise in influencing senior executives where s/he provided HR expertise yielding business value. The incumbent should be a trusted and credible advisor.
- Contributed to major corporate project and initiatives, serving as a subject expert and change catalyst. Has an entrepreneurial mindset and approaches business issues with creativity and focus on continuous improvement.
- Strong business acumen – understanding the business strategies, external environment, and talent implications.
- Experience leading culture change initiatives with significant Human Resources implications and considerations.
- HR exposure to client management, talent management, recruitment, total rewards, systems and HR operations.
- Workforce planning and organizational design expertise, with demonstrated ability to advance and leverage HR data and analytics capabilities.
- Driven to grow talent and improve organizational capabilities. Provide people leadership to the Culture and Experience team.

The base salary for this position is between $110,000 - $205,000 annually. This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).
