Team Manager, Mental Health Mentoring (Claims)

We are seeking a proven people leader to lead our Mental Health Mentoring and Consulting program, a critical component of our overall mental health strategy.  
 

This is a highly visible leadership role where you will shape how mental health claims are managed by building capability across teams, influencing best practices, and driving meaningful, sustained change. You will lead a team of experienced professionals while partnering closely with clinical and operational leaders to enhance outcomes for plan members and position the organization as a leader in mental health claims management.    

  

What You’ll Do:  

Lead a High-Performing Team:   

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of ~8 professionals, including mental health consultants and RTE Consultants  

  • Create a high-performance culture focused on accountability, continuous learning, and collaboration  

  • Drive performance, provide ongoing feedback, and build robust development plans  

  • Establish and manage clear performance frameworks, including KPIs, productivity expectations, and quality standards, using data-driven insights to guide decision-making and continuously improve team effectiveness   

Build Capability Across the Organization:  

  • Deliver targeted one-on-one mentoring for Case Managers and Rehabilitation Consultants to strengthen mental health claims expertise  

  • Design and lead engaging group learning sessions on mental health and complex claims topics  

  • Partner with operational leaders to ensure learning translates into sustained behaviour change  

  • Define and manage annual mentoring priorities, including target populations, mentee volumes, and organisational impact goals   

  • Develop and evolve scalable delivery models to ensure high-quality mentoring is delivered efficiently across a growing volume of cases   

Influence and Collaborate:   

  • Provide strategic oversight for program performance, including establishing KPIs, leading data analysis, developing resource models, and implementing outcome measurement frameworks to ensure sustained impact and alignment with organisational priorities  

  • Build strong partnerships with Case Managers, Rehabilitation Consultants, Disability Specialists, and operational leaders  

  • Influence stakeholders at all levels to adopt leading practices in mental health claims management  

Drive Program Excellence and Operational Performance:  

  • Drive operational efficiency and scalability, continuously refining processes and delivery models to optimise capacity and impact  

  • Lead the evolution of the program by identifying opportunities to enhance value, expand capabilities, and increase organisational impact  

  • Demonstrate measurable year-over-year improvements in program outcomes, service delivery effectiveness, and stakeholder satisfaction  

  

What You Bring: 

 Leadership Experience:   

  • Proven leadership experience, with a track record of building and leading high-performing teams  

  • Demonstrated ability to lead experienced professionals and subject matter experts in a complex, matrix environment  

  • Experience with driving capability-building initiatives and leading through change  

Experience & Education:   

  • University degree in a clinical or health-related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience in mental health or disability management  

  • Approximately 6–9 years of experience in disability claims management, or a related field   

  • Experience managing complex claims, particularly mental health   

Technical & Functional Expertise:

  • Strong knowledge of mental health conditions, treatment approaches, and complex claims   

  • Ability to apply an evidence-based approach to decision-making and problem solving  

  • Experience supporting return-to-work and employability outcomes   

Leadership & Interpersonal Skills:  

  • Exceptional coaching and mentoring capability, with a passion for developing others  

  • Strong influencing skills and the ability to build alignment across diverse stakeholders  

  • Strategic thinker with a focus on innovation and continuous improvement    

Tools & Technology:   

  • Strong technical proficiency across the Microsoft suite (e.g. Copilot, Teams, Excel, PowerPoint), using tools to enable data-driven leadership, operational efficiency, and scalable program delivery   

  • Leverages technology, including automation and AI-enabled tools, to optimize workflows, increase throughput, and enhance program effectiveness

  • As this position is posted in several locations, we specify that bilingualism is an asset (fluent in French and English) but is required for Quebec only as the position will regularly serve our clients with French and English-speaking needs. 

  • Reliability Status Security Clearance – this can only be completed with candidates who receive an offer of employment. This is a personal security status that is required as a condition of employment before an employee can gain access to Protected B information, assets or work sites as outlined by the Government of Canada  website.  The cost of submitting these checks will be covered by Canada Life.

The base salary for this position is between $75,000 - $113,900 annually. This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).
