We are looking for a Team Manager, Disability Intervention Services – Centralized Referrals
The Team Manager, Disability Intervention Services will provide leadership, coaching and support to a team of Rehabilitation Referral Consultants (RFC’s) and Gainful Employment Specialists (GES) to ensure the provision of consistent, high quality and cost-effective service delivery.
What you will do:
- Responsible for recruiting of new team members and oversight of their development throughout the orientation, training, and mentoring period
- Assess and support individual staff development needs on an ongoing basis
- Provide active leadership, coaching and performance management to the Rehabilitation Referral Consultants and Gainful Employment Specialists
- Complete business planning and budgeting for special DIS project work. This includes identifying project scope; defining timelines and expected outcomes; identifying files to be reviewed and related activities; and report on results
- Create/monitor/report on appropriate metrics for the Rehabilitation Referral Consultants and GES team members (quantity/productivity/service/quality)
- Ensure the efficiency and quality of the day-to-day services provided by the team of Rehabilitation Referral Consultants and Gainful Employment Specialists
- Ensure that the Rehabilitation Referral Consultants and Gainful Employment Specialists understand and follow Canada Life's claims philosophy and practices
- Act as a technical expert to the team on disability management issues
- Assist the Rehabilitation Referral Consultants in developing realistic, cost-effective rehabilitation plans
- Review and approve the Rehabilitation Referral Consultant's rehab plans/expenses according to the authority approval process
- Ensure effectiveness of the quality program for the GES and RFC team members. This will involve completion of Quality Program review and identifying areas of development that require further coaching
- Monitor data and reports on Disability Intervention Services effectiveness and Rehabilitation Referral Consultant’s and Gainful Employment Specialist service delivery
- Communicate to the Rehabilitation Referral Consultants regarding new initiatives affecting the Disability Intervention Services and Disability Management Service organizations
- Work in collaboration with staff and Team Managers of the Disability Management Services Offices and Team Managers, Disability Intervention Services
- Participate in the delivery of joint training (along with Disability Management Services Office management) regarding national initiatives
- Promote Disability Intervention Services with customers and managing the customer/client relationships affiliated with the Centralized Referral Team
- Monitor and analyze DIS work volumes, caseloads, resourcing, and project outcomes . Provide consistent, timely communication and reporting to senior management and DMSO Directors in these areas
- Provide input into issues as a member of the Disability Intervention Services leadership team
What you will bring:
- Degree in a discipline related to vocational rehabilitation/rehabilitation counseling or experience in disability management as a licensed health care provider
- Five to seven years’ experience in the insurance rehabilitation or the field of disability management
- CCRC or RRP designation or pursuing a designation
- Proven leadership skills (relationship building, adaptability, decision making, conflict management, delegation, critical thinking)
- Strong interpersonal, listening and communication skills
- As this position is posted in several locations, we specify that bilingualism (fluent in French, English, both oral and written) is required for Quebec only as the position will regularly serve our clients with French and English-speaking needs
- Reliability Status security clearance - this is a personnel security status that is required before an employee can gain access to Protected B information, assets or work sites as outlined by the Government of Canada website

The base salary for this position is between $63,500-$117,400 annually. This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).
