Associate Manager, Advisor Compliance

As part of the Advisor Compliance team this role helps to ensure advisors in our various insurance distribution channels meet their compliance obligations.  This is accomplished through drafting and implementing policies, procedures, processes and solutions to meet insurance obligations.

 

This role works closely with business units, Corporate Compliance, Advisors, MGA’s, Internal Audit and legal to ensure solutions are accurately designed, effectively implemented and operating.

 

What you will do 

Provide deep subject matter expert:

  • Triage new regulatory and legislative requirements to determine impact to CL advisor processes and to advisor practices
  • Build and maintain subject matter expertise on key compliance areas (i.e privacy, anti-money laundering, licensing, AODA, CASL etc.) through researching and interpreting legislation and regulation and liaising with legal and Corporate Compliance.
  • Ensure Canada Life Advisor Policies and Procedures is accurate and up to date
  • Support field management and MGA compliance departments to ensure they can provide accurate compliance information to advisors
  • Tracking and monitoring of sales-based advisor incentives and winners
  • Testing and monitoring to ensure controls are operational
  • Address supplier contingency, EUC testing, and BCP

 

Participation in initiatives:

  • Involvement in projects and initiatives representing advisor compliance and Insurance solutions
  • Carry out processes to coordinate initiative risk management practices including reporting at the initiative and portfolio level
  • Triage new initiatives to assess the level of risk they present to determine the risk management approach to be taken, working with the Initiative Lead and Oversight Partner
  • Assist during assessments and audits completed by Corporate Compliance, Internal audit and regulator audits

 

Maintain compliance resources for advisors:

  • Draft policy, procedures, processes to ensure CL meets compliance obligations. 
  • Build solutions, tools and templates to help Advisors meet their compliance obligations
  • Provide content for advisor communications and training

 

Compliance support:

  • Respond quickly and accurately to queries received in mailbox
  • Support MGA’s and advisors in responding to privacy breaches
  • Execute breach handling procedures for breaches within Insurance solutions

 

What you will bring 

  • Post-secondary degree in business or legal or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years experience with insurance industry, AML, Privacy, licensing regulation
  • Strong ability to review and triage legislation and propose effective solutions
  • Strong sense of accountability and ownership
  • Ability to pivot and quickly change direction in response to changing priorities
  • Strong communication, collaboration and relationship building skills
  • As this position is posted in several locations, we specify that bilingualism is an asset (fluent in French and English) but is required for Quebec only as the position will regularly serve our clients with French and English-speaking needs

The base salary for this position is between $70,500 - $129,200 annually.  This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).  If you are selected to move forward in our recruitment process, your recruiter will be able to discuss additional details of our total rewards program with you.
