This position is well suited for an experienced technical professional who thrives in a complex enterprise environment and enjoys combining platform engineering, software development, automation, security, and operational support. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the stability, performance, security, and scalability of Canada Life's Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) platform and supporting applications.

 

As an AEM (Adobe Experience Manager) Platform Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, development, support, and continuous improvement of our enterprise Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) platform. You will work closely with development teams, infrastructure partners, and business stakeholders to establish technical standards, deliver platform enhancements, and ensure operational excellence.

 

 

What you will do

 

  • Lead the design, development, and ongoing support of the Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) platform and related applications.
  • Develop and maintain custom Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) solutions, integrations, workflows, and reusable components.
  • Manage platform services including authentication, content search, and database integrations.
  • Establish technical standards, development best practices, and reusable design patterns across teams.
  • Conduct code reviews and provide technical mentorship and guidance to development teams.
  • Support platform security through secure coding practices, patch management, vulnerability remediation, and infrastructure hardening.
  • Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure automation solutions.
  • Implement monitoring, logging, and operational processes to improve platform reliability, performance, and scalability.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex platform, application, and integration issues.
  • Create and maintain technical, architectural, operational, and support documentation.

 

 

What you will bring

 

  • 7+ years of software engineering experience.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience working with Adobe Experience Manager (AEM), preferably in an enterprise or on-premises environment.
  • Strong Java development skills and experience with automated testing practices.
  • Experience with Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) architecture, OSGi services, Sling Models, workflows, and content repositories.
  • Experience implementing and supporting enterprise authentication technologies such as OIDC and SAML.
  • Working knowledge of Apache Dispatcher, Apache Solr, and Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Experience with GitLab CI/CD, infrastructure automation, and tools such as Ansible.
  • Strong understanding of application security, secure development practices, and platform hardening.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
  • Ability to work independently, establish priorities, and drive initiatives with minimal oversight.
  • Experience with front-end technologies such as React, Vue.js, or HTL/Sightly would be an asset.
  • Linux administration experience would be considered an asset.
  • Experience with JVM performance tuning, monitoring, and operational tooling would be an asset.
  • Reliability Status Security Clearance – this can only be completed with candidates who receive an offer of employment. This is a personal security status that is required as a condition of employment before an employee can gain access to Protected B information, assets or work sites as outlined by the Government of Canada  website.  The cost of submitting these checks will be covered by Canada Life.

The base salary for this position is between $85,200 - $135,200 annually. This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).
